Ghana Referees' Association Bans Six For Life, 53 For 10 Years
Not less than six referees have been ban from officiating for life-ban, and about 53 banned for 10 years by Referees' Association Of Ghana, following a report of bribery levelled against the officials.
The sanctions were following an investigation carried out by a journalist Anas Aremeyaw, who uncovered the corrupt practices being perpetrated by the sport officials by secretly filming them.
In a statement released by the Associated, it confirmed the ban of some of its officials because they have been "found culpable of Dislinary Code, Code of the Ethnic and Regulations of the football controlling bodies for their actions and inaction."
Amongst the affected officials - 61 in total - eights of them were banned from the sport by Confederation of African Football (Caf) which banned two for life and the remaining six for 10 years, but those sanctioned in the country have until Oct. 1st to challenge their sentences otherwise ban takes its course.
The unfortunate incident has taking a toll on the country's FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi who has stepped down from his position and that he held with CAF.
Fifa has also suspended Kwesi for 135 days for the investigated carried out by Anas which implicative of him.
