Europa League: Pierre Aubameyang Leads Arsenal To 4-2 Victory Over Vorskla Poltava
Arsenal claimed a much deserved win over Vorskla Poltava in their Europa League Group E opening match, by defeating considerably the Ukrainian side by 4-2 at Emirates Stadium on Thursday.
Gunners had the upper hands throughout the game over their opponents which managed to get two consolation goals after former Germany international Mesut Ozil had completed the victory for Arsenal scoring the fourth goal in 74th minutes.
However, Gabonese Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put Arsenal in the lead as he slid and smashed in a through pass from Alex Iwobi in 32nd minutes. That was followed by a second goal from Danny Welbeck with a header to a cross from Henrikh Mkhitaryan shortly after the break.
Vorskla conceded the third goal as Mkhitaryan set off Aubameyang with a through pass and did justice to the ball by drilling a shot from 20-yard through to the post before Ozil poked in a cross to complete the victory.
Arsenal's defence later fell apart giving it ways to their opponents to score twice, first in 76th minutes through Volodymyr Chesnakov and in injury time through Vyacheslav Sharpar.
Having won the match, this marks Gunners first continental match win under their Spaniard manager Emery Unai who replaced Arsene Wenger after presiding over team for 22 years.
