Deontay Wilder's Rep Cancels Negotiations With Anthony Joshua's Team
After Joshua's fight with Russian Alexander Povetkin on Saturday, expectation was that his next fight will be with Deontay Wilder in April next year, but that is not the case any more as the promoter of the WBC title holder does not want to hold any meetings for a fight with the Brit.
Wilder's promoter Shelly Finkel told Sky Sport that he has "no desire" to carry on with talks for a fight between the pair unless a concrete offer is made for his client.
"I have no desire to meet with Barry unless i have a real offer for Wilder to meet Joshua," says Finkel about the much anticipated fight which was sheduled to hold at Wembley Stadium on 13 April 2019.
However, Joshua, after winning his fight with the Russian, assured the crowd of his readiness to face his American opponent as he mentioned that he preferred meeting him in his next fight to Tyson Fury.
Finkel blamed Team Joshua for not showing enough interest in the fight and has not recieved any offer regarding their meeting saying, "Where is the new offer? No where to be found."
On the contrary, this is was Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said prior to the Briton's fight with Povetkin last weekend, "The absolute sole focus for us right now is to fighf Deontay Wilder for the undisputed title in April."
Eddie and Joshua's father Barry have tried to work out getting to meet with Finkel to bring back on the table negotiations for a fight at Wembley Stadium next year, that now may have just been ruled out after Wilder's rep turned down any further negotiations.
