David Beckham's Football Club MLS Changes Name To Inter Miami
The football club co-owned by former England captain David Beckham has changed its name from MLS to Inter Miami CF which in full is Club Internacional de Futbol Miami.
The Real Madrid winger, 43, in a statement described the unveiling of the new name as one "historic" for the club and given the reasons for the management's decision, he gave the demography of the community as one which is largely Latino.
"This is such a proud day for myself and for the entire team. We are taking another step in establishing our club and today mark an important moment in the history of Club Internacional de Futbol Miami," said Beckham in a statement.
In a clip of their new official crest tweeted by the club, it wrote in the caption: "Four years ago, we dreamt of a soccer club. Today, we're proud to announce the official crest of that club. Join us on a journey that has only just begun. THIS IS US. THIS IS MIAMI. #InterMiamiCF #ThisisMiami #MLS."
Whilst still in the making, the club is set to make it debut in two years time as the reportedly are planning to commence work on their own 25,000-seat capacity stadium.
The ex England international started his football career with Manchester United in 1992 where he played for 11 seasons, making 265 appearances and scoring 62 goals before moving to Real Madrid in 2003 where he played for four seasons and proceeded to United States' side L.A Galaxy in 2007.
