Colin Kaepernick Closes In On Move To Either Patriots Or Oakland Raiders
Former San Francisco 49ers quarter-back might be set to hit the pitch again to do what he knows best following a hint from his lawyer that he is currently linked to two leagues - Patriots and Raiders.
The news broke about the free agent's chances to signing to a contract with any of the above mentioned franchises, when his lawyer Mark Geragos, accidentally dropped the hint in a discussion with TMZ.
Mark assured that his client in days to come would come out of redundancy as he said, "stay tuned, next week there may be some news," but while the discussed on the player was on-going he unintentionally said, "I'll say this ... if Al Davis was still alive."
On that note, it became clear that he was referring to Oakland Raiders which is owned by Al Davis, whom he intended not to mention ealier in the discussion.
Later on when he was off camera, he mentioned Robert Kraft who owns New England Patriots. At this point, it can be affirmed that talks is on-going between Kaepernick's reps and the two leagues based on his lawyer's statement.
Recently, the 28-year-old former quarter-back signed a new deal with sportswear giant Nike as one of the face of its "Just do it" campaign on its 30th anniversary.
The campaign generated a lot controversies from those who deemed the palyer's protest against the United States' Nationa Athem as unpatriotic, but amongst those who supported the move by Nike was Patriots' owner Robert Kraft.
