Washington Open: Andy Murray Reaches Third Round, Knocks Out Edmund Kyle
Andy Murray is having an impressive outing in Washington as he made it through to the third round defeating his countryman Edmund Kyle.
The former World number 1 fended off onslaught from Kyle who forced him to drop the second set after holding him to a tie-break at the opener but the Scott regained composure and had the world no 18 knocked out claiming the third set to oust him in three sets 7-6(4) 1-6 6-4.
The three-time Gram Slam winner pulled out of Wimbledon after losing to Kyle at Nature Valley Internation in the second round by 6-4 6-4, blaming recovery from his hip injury for his decision.
Ousted Kyle speaks about his defeat in a courtside interview saying "I gave my best of what I had on the day today. Just didn't work out. Would have been nice to hold serve and maybe even control what I can and take [third set] To a tie-break but it didn't happen."
On the part of the Scott, 31, things were different as he said "It was much better, just in term of the way I actually played the match" 0and will in the third round face Romanina Markus Copil who defeated Frenchman Jeremy Chardy 6-4 6-4.
