Roman Abramovich Puts Chelsea FC On The Market For £2 Billion

Roman Abramovich has placed Chelsea FC on the market with a price tag of £2 billion following his row with the government over his visa status renewal.
In May, the Russian oil mogul, 51, hinted at relinquishing ties with his club, suspending indefinitely all construction activities on the club's new £1b stadium which on completion, would be Europe's most expensive stadium with 60,000 seats capacity.
To ensure the club get sold at a record transfer fee as demanded by the owner, an investment bank Raine Group has taking up the task.
All things being equal, if the ownership transfer went off the market at the offer price, Chelsea will beat Manchester United record of £790 million set for all-time biggest takeover by the Glazer family in 2006.
Abramovich took over the ownership of Chelsea in 2003 for £140 million from Ken Bates, and under his management, the club has been successful winning five Premier League and FA title, the Champions League and Europa League titles.
The departing owner of the London-based football club, is currently an Isreali passport holder, a decision he took following his hassles with having his documentations processed at the UK consulate.
