Rogers Cup 2018: Rafael Nadal Survives Onslaught From Marin Cilic To Reach Semi-finals

Rafael Nadal survived being ousted by his Croatian counterpart Marin Cilic who brilliantly forced him to drop the opener before he managed to qualify for the semi-final.
Marin, 29, conveniently dictated the games at the opening set which the Spaniard loss, but made an impressive comeback into that match and claimed the victory after winning two straight sets 2-6 6-4 6-4.
Nadal admitted to being dominated over the Croatian saying "the way that he [Marin] played in that first set was unstoppable. "
The world number 1 did not find it easy claiming his sixth victory over Marin in all eight ATP FedEx encounters in the bid to win his first hard-court season title since pulling out of Australian Open in February over injury.
"The dynamic was very bad for me and unbelievable good for him. So I know that the beginning of the second set would be decisive," said Nadal of how he managed to win the match.
He is one match from playing in the final of his sixth Rogers Cup tournament and will meet with Russia's Karen Khachanov who defeated Robin Hasse in straight sets by 6-3 6-1.
