Rogers Cup 2018: Rafael Nadal Beats Benoit Paire To Win Opening Match

Rafael Nadal won his first match since losing in Wimbledon in July, defeating Benoit Paire in his opeing match in Toronto.
The world number one seemingly cruise through the round over the world no. 54 whom he conveniently thrashed in straight sets by 6-2 6-3.
The Spaniard, 31, had a fantastic clay-court season during which he set record as the first player ever to win 11th title in three difference tournaments -Madrid Open, French and Barcelona Open.
Meanwhile, grass-court season did not pay off well for him in which he loss to former world no. 1 Novak Djokovic in the semi-final at Wimbledon, who progressed to win the title and his first since his return from elbow injury.
Nadal will face in the next round three-time Gram Slam winner Stan Wawrinka who defeated Hungarian Marton Fucsovics in three sets 1-6 7-6(2) 7-6(10).
