Juventus' Mario Mandzukic Retires From International Football
Juventus' Mario Mandzukic has quitted the Croatian national team following the announcement of his retirement from international football.
The forward, 32, was instrumental to Croatian national team reaching the Fifa 2018 World Cup final which they loss 4-2 to France on 15th of July.
In a statement released by former Croatian international, he mentioned that the feat reached by the team at the World Cup is one memorable moments in his career that enabled him to decide to retire.
"As much as the silver fills me with new energy, it makes it easier to make this impossible decision. This month, as well as the arrival home, will remain the most important memory of my career...proud of the silver we have been fighting for for years," said Mario in recalled of just the concluded tournament in Russia.
Croatia made their first appearance in the World Cup in 1998, and has been appearing ever since - only missed out in South Africa 2010 - and for the first time won the silver after reaching the final in Russia.
Mario made his first appearance for Croatia senior team of in 2007, and until his retirement, he has made 89 appearances and scored 33 goals for his country
