David Beckham To Be Presented With Uefa President's Award

Former Manchester United player David Beckham is to receive the Uefa President's Award according to a statement from the body's president Aleksander Ceferin.
Uefa President, Ceferin, in acknowledgement of the former England international to the sport, praised him for "promoting the game and all it values" to every part of the world.
"I have chose David Beckham as the recipient of this year's award," said Ceferin "he has been a global ambassador for football, promoting gthe game and its values in every corner of the planet."
Giving the reason for his choice, he described the 43-year-old retired footballer as a "true football icon of his generation" and praised him for "his tireless humanitarian efforts" in making a difference in the live of many especially children.
Beckham  during his career won the European Champions League with Manchester United in 1999 before moving to Real Madrid where he played for four seasons (2003-7).
The former L.A Galaxy midfielder in a statement said in response "during my career I always gave 100 per cent and tried to uphold the values of teamwork," and recalling the great moments he said "many of the unforgettable moments I had on the pitch came in the EUFA Champions League such as that magic night in Barcelona in 1999 when we beat Bayern Munich."
The award present will be held later in the year in Monaco where the former England captain will be honoured with the award.
