Daniel Ricciardo Is Set To Leave Red Bull For Renault
Daniel Ricciardo is set to switch team from Red Bull to Renault by the end of the season as his soon will be out of contract with his current team.
The Aussie, 29, seats in fifth place in driver's standing for the championship and has won two races - China and Monaco - this season. More so, he was also linked with Mercedes and Ferrari before Renault sealed a deal with him.
Prior to Ricciardo's opinion to move to Renault, Red Bull boss Christian Horner revealed the Aussie was close to renewing his deal with the team until things changed, however, his decision will be "respected" and the team will maintain its "focus" on performing well in remaining races.
On the part of Ricciardo, he revealed it was "one of the most difficult decision" for him to make, and maintained it was good to for him saying, "it was time for me to take on a fresh and new challenge".
"There is a lot ahead in order to allow Renault to reach their target of competing at the highest level but I have been impressed by their progression in only two years...I hope to be able to help them in this journey and contribute on and off track," said Ricciardo.
