2018 European Aquatic Championship: Russia's Kilment Kolesnikov Wins Gold Medal, Sets New World Record For Men's 50m Backstroke

Kilment Kolesnikov set a new world record for the men's 50 metres backstroke to claim the European championship gold medal in Glasgow.
The Russian, 18, swam through the length in a stunning pace to finish quickest in 24.00 seconds -a time which is 0.04 quicker than previous world record - ahead of Robert-Andrel Glinta of Romania who came second for silver medal in 24.55 second and Irish Shane Ryan won Bronze medal in 24.64 second.
This makes the teenager's second gold medal won in Glasgow, he won his first on Friday in the men's 4x100 meters freestyle final.
Speaking about winning the title, Kilment said he has had it on his mind that the prize might be his a day before the final but one thing he did not expect was break the record previously set by  "didn't think much about the world record set by Britain's Liam Tancock nine years ago in Rome.
"I said to myself to keep calm," said Kilment narrating how he prepared himself for the final "I realised I could win after the semi-final yesterday but I didn't think much about the world record."
He has been fantastic right from the junior level as he set new world records for both 50m and 100m backstroke before claiming the title
