2018 European Championship: Great Britain's Adam Peaty Wins Gold Medal In Men's 100m Breaststroke, Breaks Self Set World Record

Adam Peaty maintained his dominance in men's 100m breaststroke by upsetting his own world record to claim the gold medal in Glasgow.
The Olympic gold medallist delivered a stunning pace to finish quicker in 57sec - faster than previous world record set 57.13sec - ahead of his countryman James Wilby who won the silver medal and Russian Anton Chupkov won the bronze.
Adam, 23, and nine-time European champion surged in the lead at the last lap cruising through to the finish line to break previous records he had set for European championship and World record.
Speaking of winning gold medal and setting a new record, Adam described it as one he "cannot believe" and "humbled for the support" he has received over the years to this day.
"To the end one-two show we're pushing," said Adam "I'm so humbled for the support. It's been a journey over the last few years and to end it in this pool is incredible."
The Brit profile in the sport has raising to eighteen gold medals across the board at major events - Olympics (one), World title (five), European championship (nine) and Commonwealth Games (three).
