Wimbledon 2018: Rafael Nadal Beats Dudi Sela, Wins First Grass-court Match In Two Years
Rafael Nadal had a comfortable start at the opening match which he won beating in straight sets Israeli Dudi Sela in straight sets 6-3 6-3 6-2.
The Spaniard is playing his first grass-court tournament of the year at Wimbledon. He pulled out Fever-Tree Championship last month after a long clay-court season during which he reached a record breaking feat of winning 11th title at three difference tournaments in a season - Rolex Monte Carlos Masters, Barcelona Open and Roland Garros.
Speaking about his debut win after non-appearance in grass-court tournaments for two years, the two-time champion said "i did things very well, and other things that i have room to improve. But you are not at all times happy, of course? It's a good start for me. I like these conditions."
He will face in the second round Mikhail Kukushkin of Kazakhstan who defeat Vasek Pospisil in four sets 6-4 6-3 6-2 6-3.
