Wimbledon 2018: Novak Djokovic Reaches Final After Defeating Rafael Nadal In The Semis
Novak Djokovic is set for his first title since is recovery from elbow injury after securing a scintillating victory over his arch-rival Rafael Nadal.
The duo returned to Centre Court after the match was called off having played until 11pm on Friday, the Serb who was already leading by two sets to one completed his victory over the world number one in five sets by 6-4 3-6 7-6(11-9) 3-6 10-8.
It was literally the longest semi-final ever recorded at Wimbledon considering time spent at two separate session played as it lasted for five hours 15 minutes. Also, it was the first time a match will be suspended due to curfew since the court's roof was installed in 2009.
"It's hard to pick the words. I'm just going through things, flashbacks to the last 15 months, everything I've been through to get here. To win against the best player in the world, in one of the longest matches I ever played, I'm just overwhelmed," the two-time champion said after the match.
This is coming as a proportional revenge for Djokovic who was knocked out by the Spaniard in the quarter-final at Garros Roland in clay-court season.
The world number 21 is set to face South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the final on Sunday July 15.
