Wimbledon 2018: Kevin Anderson Beats John Isner To Win Longest Semi-final In The Championship History
It was an historic moment for South Africa's Kevin Anderson who defeated American John Isner to win the longest semi-final ever to be played at Wimbledon.
The match lasted for six hours and 35 minutes as both players fought hard on Centre Court until the ninth seed, 32, claimed the victory in five sets 7-6(6) 6-7(5) 6-7(9) 6-4 26-24.
Anderson described the match as one "beyond a tennis match or tactics," and had to give it all he had such that he could not say what got him through but "just a will to try to succeed."
This match win makes the South African's 300th at tour level, but only his third win against the American as their ATP FedEx head-to-head stands at 3:8.
He is set for a tough final as he will take on either three-time champion Novak Djokovic or world number one and two-time champion Rafael Nadal.
