Wimbledon 2018: Andy Murray Withdraws, Hints At Appearing In Hard-court Season
Andy Murray, with a "heavy heart" pulled out of the tournament following an announcement he made on Sunday.
The two-time champion blamed his decision to withdraw from the tournament on his hip surgery, and might not be healthy for him to appear in Wimbledon.
"It is with a heavy heart that I'm announcing that I'll be withdrawing from Wimbledon this year," he said in a statement "We'vedecided that playing best-of-five-set matches might be a bit too soon in the recovery process."
The former champion went on to explain that his withdrawal is but for a while to get him ready for will the hard court season saying, "I will start praying on the hard court from tomorrow and continuing with my rehab and recovery and I'm looking forward to the US hard court season."
The three-time Grand Slam winner beat Stan Wawrinka to win his first match in nearly a year but was stopped by his countryman and Britain's number one Edmund Kyle in straight sets by 6-4 6-4.
