Russia 2018 World Cup: England Eliminate Sweden To Reach Semi-final For The First Time In 28 Years
Sweden have been eliminated from the tournament after England won 2-0 to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time since 1990.
The Three Lions impressively dominated and controlled the game over the Swedes, even could have widen the goal margin had they converted some chances, still that was enough to settle the match for them.
After half an hour of play, the English-side wasted no time at opening the score-line through Harry Maguire who headed home Ashley Young's corner in 30th minutes.
After the break, not long after Jordan Pickford saved a brilliant header from Swede Marcus Berg in 47th minutes, Jesse Linguard crossed the ball into the area for Dele Alli who was left unmarked and calmly gave a header for England's second goal in 58th minutes.
In 72nd minutes, Sweden made another brilliant attempt to get a goal through Marcus Berg who smashed a shot from the box but Pickford was just right there to save it from going through yet again.
England went through with 2-0 win over their opponent in full time. They will face in the semi-final either Russia or Croatia on Tuesday July 11.
