Russia 2018 World Cup: Croatia Eliminates Denmark After Goalkeeper Danijel Subasic Saves Three Penalties To Claim The Victory

Denmark have joined the list of teams eliminated from the tournament after conceding defeat to Croatia following a shootout.
The winning side would have stopped the match from being decided by a shootout, but failed to convert his penalty conceded on him by Danish Mathias Zanka in 116th minutes.
However, Denmark were the first to move up in the lead when Zanka from close range found the back of Croatia's net in 1 minute which could be the earliest goal of the tournament.
That was quickly responded to by the Croatians with an equalized through Mario Mandzukic who fired a shot home from Henrik Dalsgaard's erroneous clearance in the box in 4th minutes.

At the end of the extra-time, FC Barcelona Ivan Rakitic converted his penalty to claim the victory for Croatia after three of Denmark's penalties had been saved by Danijel Subasic, and only two of their was saved by Danish Kasper Schmeichel.
Having qualified for the quarter-finals, Croatia will face Uruguay on Saturday June 7.
