Germany's Mesut Ozil Retires From Internatiomal Football

Mesut Ozil, shockingly, made an announcement of his retirement from international football just a week after FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
On Sunday, the German midfielder made this known via an update on his social media account, blaming his decision on "mistreatment" he facing from the country's football governing body DFB president Reinhard Grindel over his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in May.
The Arsenal player also criticised German media for the way he has been portrayed sibce his meeting with President Erodogan when he and Chancellor Angela Merkel watched Germany and Turkey play in 2010.
"Like many people, my ancestry traces back to Moe than one country. Whilst I grey up in Germany, my family background has its roots firmly based in Turkey," he said in his first statement letter.
"Although the German media have portrayed something different, the truth is that not meeting with the President (Turkish President Erdogan) would have been disrespecting the roots of my ancestors who I know would be proud of where I am today."

Announcing his retirement he says, "I will no longer stand for being a scapegoat...I know that he (Grindel) wanted me out the team after the picture and publicised his view on Twitter without thinking or consultation... in the eye of Grindel and his supporters, I am German when we win, but I am immigrant when we lose."

Mesut won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil with Germany and current plays for Arsenal FC in English Premier League.
