Germany's Football Governing Body DFB Responds To Mesut Ozil's Claims Of "Mistreatment And Disrespect"

Germany's football governing body (DFB) has come out to respond to claims of "mistreatment and disrespect" from its former player Mesut Ozil following the announcement of his retirement from the national team on Sunday.
In a three-page letter released by the midfielder, 29, he mentioned that he was only treated as German when the team win and as "an immigrant" when they lose matches, for that reason the German FA has been accused of "racism" towards its own player.
But the FA in its statement said it "regrets the departure" of the midfielder from the national team and also "emphatically regrets the DFB being linked to racism".
Explaining all it all began, the Arsenal player stated that he was been discriminated against for meeting with Turkish President Erdogan in London during a charity match with Turkey in 2010, and things turned really bad after their exit from the 2018 World Cup in quarter-finals - he claimed to have received many threat emails since then.
Speaking against the act of racism, the FA went further to decry discrimination faced by the Mesut saying "The DFB has been very involved in integration work in Germany for many years. The DFB stands for diversity, from the representatives at the top to the boundless, day-to-day dedication of people at the base."
In 2014, Mesut Ozil won with national team Germany's fourth World Cup in 2014, but were knocked out of the 2018 World Cup in the quarter-finals by the host team Russia.
