Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton Believes Performance, Lesser Mistakes More Importance Than Speed To Win Title

Lewis Hamilton would not let Ferrari's advantage in pace to be a reason for him to panic, being of the opinion that car pace is not enough to guarantee winning the World Championship.
The Brit is current atop driver standing with 24 points ahead of Sebastian Vettel, having overtook the German for the position after winning in two consecutive race - in Germany and Hungary.
On Monday, Vettel sent out a warning to his title rival that Ferrari can still spring surprises after they return from their four weeks break because they have the car pace advantage over Mercedes and there are many potentials they have not exploited yet.
That threat from Vettel is not pulling a strand of hair off Hamilton who dismissed Ferrari's car speed as an advantage, and believed that performance and making lesser mistakes are key winning the title bid.
"This year we all know that Ferrari really do have the upper hand pace-wise. But I think all around, performance-wise, in terms of strategy...to win a championship is not just about speed," he said in an interview.
On Saturday, Hamilton claimed his 77th pole position in the qualifying session for Hungarian GP final, using their wet tyre technology advantage after a downpour whilst the poor weather condition was a challenge for Ferrari which led to Vettel missing out in podium position.
Explaining his position further Hamilton said "It's about how you manage things, the strategy calls you make, mistakes, all these different things all weigh up."
Speaking about the huge margin by which he leads Vettel as an assurance of claiming his fifth championship title, he replied saying "Absolutely not. I think it's far too early and you've seen the ups and downs we've had from the year...We've got a long, long way still to go and there's still nine races."
