After winning the third place play-off over England on Saturday, he hinted at his exit from Chelsea telling a Belgian media outlet HLN that "After six wonderful years at Chelsea it might be time to discover something different."
"Certainly after this World Cup. I can decide if I want to stay or go, but Chelsea will make final decision - if they want to let me go. You know my preferred destination."
The Belgian has been rumoured to be linked to Real Madrid following the moving of Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus. In fact, he had indicted his interest in Bernabeu side prior to the kick off of the tournament in Russia as he was quoted as saying that they [Real Madrid] "know what they need to do" if they want him.
