Denzel Washington's First Sequel "The Equalizer 2" Tops At The Box Office

Denzel Washington's first ever sequel "The Equalizer 2" has turned out to be a huge success, hauling in $35.8 million  (£27.2m) in its opening weekend over at the box office.
The Antoine Fuqua directed thriller film's performance in the domestic market was over its projection, and happened to be the "Training Day" director's best performing film of his career.
Also, this is one nice boost to the two-time Academy Awards winner's 'profile for subsequent sequel of other franchises having recorded a good success with his first.
However, making the second place at the box office was Universal's "Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again" which was just about a million dollar shy of "Equalizer 2" performance on its opening weekend as the Phyllida Lloyd directed comedy film pulled in $34.9 million.
Following in third place was Sony's "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" which made $23.7 million in its second weekend and followed by "Ant-Man And the Wrap" which netted $16.5 million in third weekend to bring i total domestic gross to $165 million.
