Conor McGregor To Escape Seven Years Jail Sentence And Deportation As Prosecutors Agree To Reduce Charges
Conor McGregor has been fighting legally to avoid being jailed or deported back to Ireland since he was charged for felony for leading a group of friends to attack his fellow UFC fighters in a bus at the sport's press conference in New York.
The former UFC champion's legal team are negotiating with his prosecutors for his criminal case to be reduce from felony to misdemeanour assault, to allow he avoid being sentenced to seven years behind bars and a possible deportation from the United States.
According to the TMZ Sports, there seemed to be hope for the 40-year-old as his lawyer is very close to reaching an agreement with his prosecutors which in turns reckon with securing a deal on his case but are yet to give their final words on it.
In April, the Irishman and his another fighter Cian Cowley were charged with one count of felony criminal mischief and three counts of misdemeanour assault for an attack on their UFC rivals in Brooklyn, New York.
A Brooklyn Criminal Court later granted the pair bail - $50,000 for McGregor and $25,000 for Cowley - for a case that could have them sentence to seven years in prison plus a deportation.
