Stuttgart 2018: Roger Federer Beats Australian Nick Kyrgios To Regain World Number One Ranking
Roger Federer battled through a tough match with Australia's Nick Kyrgio and remarkably won from a set down by 6-7(2-7), 6-2, 7-6 (7-5) to reach the final of the Mercedes Cup in Stuttgart.
As a result, the Swizz has regained the world number one ranking which he lost to the Spaniard Rafael Nadal in May, and this will be confirmed in the new ATP FedEx ranking which will be released on Monday ranking
The 20-time Grand Slam winner won the Australia Open and Indian Well Open to reach world number position for the first time since November 2012 before losing it to Rafael Nadal in March.
Speaking after the match, Federer admitted it was a tough match with Nick and he was close to losing it to him as he said "I'm very happy, very relieved. I thought it was a tough match I expected against Nick...It was close. It could have gone either way, naturally."
He will face in the final Canadian Milos Raonic who beat Lucas Pouille in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-3) in the semi-finals.
