Russia 2018 World Cup: Uruguay Thrash Russia 3-0, Top Group A As Saudi Arabia And Egpyt Are Eliminated
Uruguay booked their place in the knock stage of the tournament, topping Group A with 3-0 defeat of host team Russia.
The South American kept a clean sheet throughout the stage conceding no goals and winning all their matches to lead by nine points.
Early into the match, the Uruguayan scored their first goal when Luis Suarez brilliantly powered a free-kick from 18-yard through to the post in 10th minutes.

The lead was later doubled when a shot from Diego Laxalt was defected into the net by Russia's Denis Cheryshev in 23rd minutes, and right in 90th minutes, Edinson Cavani reacted to a rebound after Diego Godin's header was saved and swiftly kicked home the ball to complete the victory for Uruguay.

Uruguay finished on top of the group with nine points and hosts Russia followed in second place with six points. Saudi Arabia defeated Egypt 2-1 to finish in third place yet are out of the tournament alongside with their opponents.
