Russia 2018 World Cup: Russia Close In On Qualifying For Round Of 16 After 3-1 Win Over Egypt
Having won their second match in a row the host team are the leaders of their group with six points after a decisive 3-1 victory over Egypt.
The Russians close in on securing a place in the round of 16 after winning their second match from which they have only conceded a goal and scored eight goals - defeated Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the opening match.
The first half of the match went through goalless, but return their return from break, the hosts sneaked a goal in as Roman Zobnin's shot from 25-yard was defection into the post by Egypt's Ahmed Fathi for an own-goal in 47th minutes.

Egypt went two more goals adrift as Russia's Denis Cheryshev kicked in a cross from Mario Fernandes for the second goal in 58th minutes and Artem Dzyuba brilliantly nailed in the third goal in the 61st minutes.
Mo Salah did managed to get a consolation goal for Egypt in the 73rd minutes, converted penalty conceded on him by the hosts.
Having loss the match, it is certain that Egypt face elimination if they failed to beat Saudi Arabia and good margin in the next match - that is Uruguay lose their next match - and for Russia, they are sure through to the round of 16 and will take on Uruguay in their next match.
