Russia 2018 World Cup: Host Team Opens The Tournament With 5-0 Win Over Saudi Arabia

The hosts started their 2018 World Cup campaign with a successful opening match against Saudi Arabia which they defeated 5-0.
The Juan Antonio Pizzi-led Saudi team Green Falcons had most of the possession, and could not make anything of it letting the host side which were better on the attack ravaged their net with goals.
Saudi side was punished for letting loose its defence by host's Yuri Gazinsky who powered a header through to the post from Aleksandr Golovin's cross when he was let free in the box to lead the score-line for Russia in 12th minutes.
On the brink of half-time, Russia's Denis Cheryshev rounded three men in the box before drilling a left-footed shot to the post to double the lead in 43rd minutes

After the break, the host team added another goal to their lead when Golovin crossed the ball over to Artem Dzyuba for a header through to the post in 71st minutes, and late into the game Cheryshev scored the fourth goal with a left-footed shot from the edge of the 18-yard box in 91st minutes, and Golovin sealed the victory scoring the fifth goal from a free-kick in 90th+4 minutes.
Saudi will face in next Group A fixture Egypt on Monday while the hosts will take on South American team Uruguay on Monday.
