Russia 2018 World Cup: Ahmed Musa Nets Twice As Nigeria Defeat Iceland 2-0
The Super Eagles of Nigeria made off with the maximum points after an impressive match ended in 2-0 win over Iceland.
The Eagles were held to a goalless 45 minutes by their opponents before they slammed two goals in upon their return from break.
Game dominance paid off for the winning side which opened the score-line in 49th minutes after a fast break when Musa gained an advantage when Victor Moses set him off with a cross which he hammered into the net.
The Nigerian side widen the lead in the 73rd minutes when Moses once again got a pass through to Musa who drove in on the ball, rounded the goalkeeper and a defender before slamming a shot through to the post to double the lead.
Ebuehi's tackle on Iceland's Finnbodvarsson in the box led to penalty after VAR confirmed the challenged is punishable, but Sigurdsson failed to convert it as he kicked the ball wide.
Nigeria won their first match of the tournament eventually and second in the Group D table with three points behind Croatia which lead with six point.
Nigeria will proceed to face in the next match Argentine and Iceland will take on group leaders Croatia on Tuesday June 26.
