Meek Mill Drops New Song "Stay Woke" Pays Tribute XXXTentacion, Jimmy Wopo
Since Meek Mill was release from incarceration, he has not been hiding his views on the need to reform the criminal justice system of his country.
On Sunday, at the BET Awards, he finally dropped the song he has been teasing about on his social media accounts, as he stormed the stage to perform "Stay Woke" which he specifically made to criticise the system for how it brutalized and massively held people in incarceration.
Paying tribute to XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo, the Philly-native wore a sweatshirt bearing image of the two late upcoming rappers who were killed in gun violence in the same day as he performed his politically-charged song on stage.
"We scream black live matters but we still toting ladders/Watching our own brothers trying to get at us/Dreams get shattered when a scene full of cracker/And they charge you with some shit you ain't do," he started off the song.
Furthermore, he went on to talk about how kids are trained to hate and police brutality rapping "they taught us how each other before we learn how to walk...How can I pledge allegiance to the flag when they're killing our sons."
