Lyon Calls Off Nabil Fekir's £60 Million Move To Liverpool
Lyon's captain Nabil Fekir's move to Liverpool on £60 million transfer deal has been called off following an announcement made by the Lique 1 club on Saturday.
It was revealed in a statement released, that Liverpool were closed to sealing a deal with the 24-year-old midfielder who was confirmed to have done his medical on Friday, but the English club tried to lower the fee agreed on which led to the player's club decision to cancel every thing about the deal.
"Olympique Lyonnais confirms that the tri-party negotiation with Liverpool and Nabil Fekir for the transfer of the Lyon captain have not succeeded and that Olympique Lyonnais have decided to put an end to these negotiation at 20:00 [CET] on Saturday," the statement revealed.
It was earlier reported that Lyon's position was that there will be no deal until after the 2018 World Cup in Russia, and in the statement it went further to say that: "Although Liverpool have been the priority of a possible transfer of Nabil, and subject to other proposals consistent with the interest of Nabil and Olympique Lyonnais and from the ambitious club, Olympique Lyonnais is delighted to be able to count on the presence of our captain, who is a leading player for the 2018/19 season when the club will play in the Champions League."
However, it is believed that the France international's knee injury could have led to the English club's decision to drop the deal price as against what both parties agreed on.
