'Incredible 2' Sets New Record For Animation At Box Office, Debuts With £183.2 Million To Be All-Time Biggest Opening
Walt Disney and Pixar's animated film 'Incredible 2' started off impressively at the box office as it premiered with an estimate of $183.2 million (£138.2 million) in gross domestically.
Internationally, the Braid Bird directed animated film hauled in an estimate of $48.3 million which rounded up its global earnings at $231.5 million.
As a result, the sequel smashes previous record set by Andrew Stanton and Angus MacLane's Finding Dory ($135 million) to be all-time biggest animated film opening at the box office, and third largest opening of the year after Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War and Black Panther.
Coming in the second place behind Incredible 2 at the weekend box office, is Rihanna starring film Ocean 8 which hauled in an estimate of $18.9 million in its second weekend to bring it domestic gross to $78.5 million in total
Jeff Tomsic comedy film Tag finished in third place after it hauled in $14.9 million on debut weekend screening from 3,382 theatres.
