French Open 2018: Simona Halep Beats Sloane Stephens To Win Career First Grand Slam Title

Simona Halep has won her first Grand Slam title after a tough fought from a set down to beat her American counterpart Sloane Stephens to win her first title at Roland Garros.
Expectations was that Stephens would have the upper hands in the game after a cruise through the opener, but her aggressiveness soon dropped as the Romanian gained momentum with a more improved game plan to win two remaining sets, and sealed the victory with a powerful serve to close the match in three sets by 3-6 6-4 6-1 after over two hours of play.
Having won the final, Halep becomes the first Romanian to win a title at Roland Garros in 40 years.
"First of all, thank you everyone for your support. I'm so grateful," she said after winning her first Grand Slam title.
