French Open 2018: Serena Williams Cancels Match With Maria Sharapova, Blames Injury To Her Right Arm

Serena Williams has pulled out of highly anticipated fourth round match with her Russian counterpart Maria Sharapova due to injury to her right pectoral muscle which she said happened during her third round encounter with Julia Goerges on Saturday.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion who remained unbeaten by Sharapova since 2004, announced this at a press conference on Monday which she described as "disappointing".
"Unfortunately I have been having issues with my pec muscle, right now I can't actually serve. The first time I felt it was against Georges, it was really painful. In my doubles yesterday I tried lots of different tapings. It didn't really get a lot better," she narrated how the injury started.
Speaking about pulling out of the match against Sharapova, she described one she always look forward to because she matches her kind of play.
"It's very difficult because I love playing Maria," she pointed out "It's a match I always get up for. Her game matches up so well against mine. I'm beyond disappointed. I gave up so much, time with my daughter, all for this moment, so it's really difficult to be in this situation."
This is the first time Serena will pull out of a Grand Slam match, and reportedly will be having MRI done on her arm on Tuesday,
