Eastbourne International 2018: Edmund Kyle Knocks Out Andy Murray To Reach Quarter-finals
Andy Murray, after defeating Stan Wawrinka to win his first match in nearly a year, got knocked out of the tournament on Wednesday after he conceded defeat to his compatriot Edmund Kyle in straight sets by 6-4, 6-4.
The British number one dominated the match well over Murray who is making a comeback from hip injury and conveniently took him down winning after over an hour of play to reach the quarter-finals.
Murray showed not much sign off being impeded by his hip injury throughout the match which ended in his first loss to Kyle in all three ATP FedEx encounters.
Edmund started off impressively picking up first two games at the opener and forced the two-time Wimbledon to drop the set. At the second set, Murray made a come from 15-40 to win the second game at 1-1, but eventually caved in to Edmund's aggressiveness who broke the set smashing a backhand shot down the line.
"To beat shows I have improved a lot. It's difficult to pit it into words," Ed said in admission to playing against Murray "To have that win definitely gives me a lot of confidence and belief. I guess the mental side, as well...It's a nice win."
The Briton will face in the quarter-final Russia's Mikhail Kukushkin who thrashed David Ferrer in straight sets by 6-2 6-0.
