Comcast Challenges Walt Disney With Bid Of $65bn For 21st Century Fox
Comcast is coming out for Rupert Murdoch's Fox, and they are making their bid bigger than that of Walt Disney with an offer of $65bn (£48.7bn).
The cable giant which the US's largest cable company, is all out on an ambitious move to own 21CF regardless, and would not mind to enter into bidding war more with Disney having already topped their bid of $52.4bn by 19%.
Chairman of Comcast, Brian Roberts, revealed in a letter written Murdoch that his company's interest in Fox went over the roof after their meeting last year..
"We have long admired what the Murdoch family has built at the 21st Century Fox. After our meeting last year, we came away convinced that the 21CF businesses to be sold are highly complementary to ours, and that our company would be the right strategic home for them," Roberts wrote in the letter.
However, Disney entered into negotiation with Fox before Comcast ever made an offer, and Robert is still "highly confident" that the regulators will approve his offer instead of that of his competitor.
Any of the two bidders stands to own large chunk of 21CF which includes National Geographic and FX, its UK-based TV channel Sky TV and Asian cable network Star TV.
In December last year, the media-mogul Murdoch announced his family's decision to large part of 21st Century Fox which will lead them with small part of the company including Fox News, sport channels and other branch of the company like Wall Street Journal, the Times and the Sun.
