Madrid Open: Dominic Thiem Reaches Final For Second Consecutive Year After Defeating South Africa's Kevin Anderson
Dominic Thiem has reached the final of the Madrid Open for second consecutive time after winning the semi final in straight sets.
Dominic, wo defeated world no.1 Rafael Nadal in the quarter final, showed his great class of play as he overpowered his South African counterpart Kevin Anderson and won after about an hour and half of play in two sets 6-4 6-2.
Kevin, 32, was not a easy cracker for the world no. 7 at the first set, but the Austrain became more aggressive at the second set with precision, good slice and excellence forehand, and he sealed the match win with a serve that the South African in return backhand hit wide.
Speaking after the match, Dominic hinted on how he has set his mind on winning the semi-final by ensuring he kept his "level up from yesterday [against Rafael Nadal]...Even though he played different...Returning from very far back."
The 24-year-old will face in the face either German Alexandra Zverev or Denis Shapovalov who defeated Britain's no.1 Kyle Edmund in the quarter-finals.
