French Open (Roland Garros) 2018: Novak Djokovic Beats Brazil's Rogerio Durta To Reach Second Round
Former world no. 1 Novak Djokovic displayed an impressive performance in the opening match at Roland Garros and topped three sets to beat Rogerio Durta in their first FedEx ATP encounter in six years.
The Brazilian started off very strong at the opening set before the No. 20 seed gained momentum and take him out after two hours of play in three sets 6-4 6-3 6-3.
Djokovic dropped two games at the opener (1-2) but the Brazilian was soon overpowered s the Serb gained control of the match and sealed his match win at the third set with a powerful forehand which Durta on return backhand hit the net.
The Serb who lost to top seed Rafael Nadal in the semi final of the Italian Open said after the match he is "starting to play better" because he has not being having much pain from his elbow injury for weeks now.
He went further saying, "I think I had some really good moments in the match and some not that great...But it was good for the first match. It was a good test."
Djokovic will face in the second round at Roand Garros 21-year-old Spaniard Jaume Munar who defeated David Ferrer after topping the sets in 3-6 3-6 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (7-4) 7-5.
