Adidas Maintains Support For Kanye West For Being Creative
Adidas and Kanye West are still keeping their business stands in spite of the rapper's backlash for his views on slavery which he said lasted so long out of "choice."
The footwear brand CEO Kasper Rorsted made the company's position with the rapper/designer known in an interview on Bloomberg.
Kasper described the rapper and his Yeezy boost as an important part of the company and to which he has made excellent contribution with his creativity.
"Kanye has been and is, a very important part of our strategy and he's a fantastic creator, and that's where I'm going to leave it."
He went further to say the "Life of Pablo" rapper especially Yeezy boost is strategic to how they promote their products especially in the international market.
"If you look upon our overall numbers, last year we did almost $25 billion. We're a very large company, and Kanye and Yeezy is very important part for our brand...very important part of how we promote our products, particularly in the U.S. and other parts of the world."
Kanye was widely condemned for his remark on slavery which he described as an act of "choice" during a discussion with Harvey Levine in TMZ Newsroom on Tuesday.
The rapper's remark was following the outrage he caused for wearing President Donald Trump campaign hat with the slogan "Make America Great Again" such that a fellow rapper Daz Dillinger called Crips on him.
