Winnie Mandela Dies, Aged 81
South Africa's first black First Lady and wife of former President Nelson Mandela, has passed away, aged 81.
Winnie, reportedly was diagnosed with Kidney-related illness after a period of repeated illness, and has been admitted to hospital before her demise.
She married the late Nelson Mandela in 1958 and was South Africa's First Lady when her husband was elected into the country's top job.
She was divorced two years later during her husband's term in office following an accusation of cheating during Mandela term in prison .
However, Winnie was once the African Women Congress League's president and was involved in many of the country's political struggles even during the apartheid.
