Monte Carlo Masters: Novak Djokovic Reveals Struggles On Court Having To Play With Elbow Injury
Novak Djokovic, after winning his opening match with Dusan Lajovic at Monte Carlo, gave details into the impact his elbow injury has on him most times when playing in any tournaments despite knowing he could have played better.
The Serb who had early exit in Indian Wells and Miami Open, stated it has been a huge mental struggle for him on the court playing with pain and especially at Indian Wells.
"After two years finally I can play without pain," he mentioned " Indian Wells, Miami, especially Indian Wells, was not like that. India Wells and Miami were really kind of struggle on the court for me mentally."
The 12-time grand slam winner admitted that the pain from his injury often take a toll on him preventing him from bring out his best on the court.
"I know that I can play much better than that, but I couldn't. I just wasn't ready. And that's it."
"I personally feel, and I know that you can also see from outside," she said speaking about his performance during his match with Lajovic at the on-going tour in Monte Carlo "that I'm lacking more of the match play, more of the situation of, you know competition, playing out points in an official match."
"I thought I played well, started the tournament well, it's first match on clay...Still, I thought all in all, it was a great start of the tournament."
