Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton Wins First Race In Baku As Vettel Finished Fourth
Lewis Hamilton has leaped ahead of Sebastian Vettel (66 points) in driver standing by four point (70 points) after winning his first race of the season in Baku at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday.
The Mercedes won their first race in Baku as Hamilton finished quickest in 1:43:44.29sec and coming in second position was Kimi Raikkonen and Force India won the first podium position of the season with Sergio Perez who finished third.
It all looked like Vettel - who finished fourth - will be in control of the pace to the end until three laps to go when he drove wide and Hamilton kept inside the lane and sped past the German to lead the race on to the end.
Speaking after the race, Hamilton who won his season's first race after seven attempts described the race as "emotional" and admitted Vettel gave it a good fight but he did not give up and did all he should right and "really deserved to win" the race in Baku.
Meanwhile, it was a chaotic start in Baku as two drivers Esteban Ocon (Force India) and Sergey Sirotkin (Williams) were forced out of the race after Ocon and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen collided and not long after Sirotkin had a collision that caused a rapture of his tire in the first lap.
Another unfortunate incident was Valterri Bottas who lost out due to puncture, and also Red Bull's drivers Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo also collided after a long chase after each other and were out.
