Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reportedly will leave by the end of the season after spending 22 years at the club.
The 68-year-old confirmed his departure from the club in a statement released to the club's website.
"After careful consideration  and following discussions with club, I feel it is the right time for me to step down at the end of the season."
He expressed his gratitude towards the club for the years he has spent with the club saying: "I am grateful for having having had the privilege to serve the club for so many memorable years."
"I managed the club with full commitment and integrity. I want to thank the staff, the players, the Directors and the fans who make this club so special."
Wenger threw in the towel while he has yet a year to go in his contract and a continental title in-view as the club are to face Atletico Madrid in the semi-final of the Europa League.
The Frenchman joined the club on October 1996, and has presided over 823 games with the club winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups.
He also has a word of encouragement for the fans and implore them to always stand by their beloved club no matter what.
"I urge our fans to stand behind the team to finish on a high. To all the Arsenal lovers take care of the values of the club. My love and support forever," he said.
