Snapchat Market Value Drops By 5% After Rihanna Called It Out For DV Advert
Snapchat is learning the hard way for running an advert that referenced Rihanna and Chris Brown incident in 2009.
The social media app stock value dropped by 5% following a response from the Barbados-born songstress for making the incident seem a thing to make an ad out of, even former First daughter Chelsea Clinton was not having it.
Knowing that they have got it wrong and investor might not be having it, the social media on Tuesday deleted the ad, Rihanna would not let it go like that without saying something and that statement soon sliced 5% of their market value.
"Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there! But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it!!!" She hit back at the social media in a post to her Instagram account.
Meanwhile, Snapchat issued an apology to the BBC on Tuesday, sayimg the advert was "approved in error" and has removed it for violating "advertising guidelines".
