The 40-year-old has apologised for his conduct but Sky Sport in a statement said the suspend would last until the end of the season and a review would be held before next season starts.
"Following an internal review, Sky has suspended Jamie Carragher for the remainder of the season. Jamie has been taken full responsibility for what has happened and we will ensure he get the help he needs to guarantee something like this never happens again," the statement reads.
