Brighton&Hove's Chris Hugston Wins Premier League Manager of the Month, Becomes First Black Coach To Claim The Prize In 25 Years
Brighton and Hove Albion manager Chris Hugston has been named the Premier League manager of the month.
This is the first time in 25 years when a black man would be named for the monthly prize for Premier League coaches.
The 59-year-old was voted for the prize for his team's performance and the seagulls have come off the relegation zone.
In February, the Seagulls won two of their league games (West Ham and Swansea) and drew one (Stoke City) to claim seven points, and started off the month of March with an outstanding performance with 2-1 win over Arsenal.
"It's a wonderful achievement for the club," Chris said "and certainly for a group of players that have improved as the season has gone on and knowing that we've still got a lot of work to do...We're thankful to a lot of people."
Chris, since his coaching career has overseen 121 Premier League games which include Newscatle, Norwich and Brighton.
