BNP Paribas Open: Serena Williams Wins First Round Over Zarina Diyas At Indian Wells
Serena Williams won her first round with Zarina Diyas in straight two sets 7-5 6-3 at the Indian Wells tour in California.
The 23-time grand slam winner reached to the second of her first singles match after fighting hard at the first set with the 24-year-old Kazakhstan and dominated the second set to win her first match at the Tour.
It is the 36-year-old first match win since Australian Open title win in 2017, after which she was out-of-action for 14 month as she was pregnant with her daughter Alexis Jr.
The mother-of-one was cheered by her husband Alexis Ohanian as she fight through with Zarina at the Indian Wells.
She admitted her first comeback win since she gave birth "wasn't easy" for her.
"I'm a little rusty but it doesn't matter. It definitely wasn't easy but it was good."
