BNB Paribas Open: Novak Djokovic Loses Second Round To Japan's Taro Daniel
Japan's Taro Daniel won the biggest match of his career as he beat Novak Djokovic in second round at the Indian Wells tour in California.
The 23-year-old took down the former world no.1 after three sets 7-6(3) 4-6 6-1 in a match that lasted two hours 30 minutes.
After the Djokovic had lost the first set to the 85 seed in a tie break, he made a comeback to win the second set but the Japanese dealt a good blow at him in the last set to stop Serbian from progressing to third round.
Djokovic congratulated his opponent for giving it a good fight and "showing a great spirit" in a speech after the match.
"I'd like to.congratulate my opponent for fighting," he said "and showing great, great spirit on the court."
However, the 30-year-old 10th seed just recovered from an injury to his elbow which is dated back to his debut loss at the California desert in 2016.
